see.

mum and i went for breakfast at a hawker stall near our house this morning. the place was full, so we had to share the table with this lady and her maid. i was talking to my mum in cantonese, and suddenly the lady sharing the table interrupted, "excuse me, are you from hong kong? i can tell from your accent..'' Turns out this lady's just like my mum: a penangite who migrated to hong kong for 30 years and migrated back to penang again. so they started talking about the differences of life in hong kong and here, and how each has their own pros and cons. and then i realized that life in hong kong, though it's my hometown, is gonna be very very different from life here. people will be less caring and warm, because they're too busy with their own lives, things will be much more expensive, i will not be restricted by my parents, i will have to walk faster - a lot faster, and a lot more. every time i'm in hong kong i'm with my mum. but this time i will be on my own. the last time i was on my own for a day, i used up 700 dollars cos i didn't know how to take the MRT, so i took the taxi to basically everywhere.
anyhow, the lady gave my mum her number and said, ''call me some time and we can go for yumcha!" (yum cha is dim sum). see, typical hongkonger :P
well, what do you know right? the world's so small. just by sharing a table with a stranger you meet someone totally unexpected, someone who shares the same background and experience as you. mummy made a new friend :)

i'm so looking forward to the months to come.
:)

he turns 20 in nine days. 20..sounds so..big. so different. i don't ever want to turn 20.
